Orrcon celebrates their partnership with Nextracker & Baojia

Orrcon Steel enters the renewable sector with supply of torque tube for commercial solar farms.

A proud moment for Orrcon Steel as it celebrated the partnership with Nextracker Inc. and Baojia New Energy Manufacturing at the inauguration of the Baojia Solar tube processing facility within Orrcon Steel’s Distribution Centre in Northgate, Brisbane.

This collaboration represents a significant achievement resulting from the fruitful cooperation between Orrcon Steel, Nextracker, and Baojia. It underscores our commitment and capability to furnish components for commercial solar farms, not only in Queensland but across Australia.

Distinguished guests at the opening ceremony included the Hon Mick de Brenni MP, Queensland's Minister for Energy and Clean Economy Jobs; Paul Martyn, Director General of Energy and Clean Economy Jobs; Tania Archibald, Chief Executive of BlueScope Australian Steel Products; Tony Schreiber, Chair of the Australian Steel Institute and General Manager of Orrcon Steel; and Peter Wheale, General Manager of Nextracker Australia, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, along with numerous renewable energy providers and members of our team.

The Minister emphasised how this exciting initiative aligns with the Queensland Government's vision to promote local manufacturing as part of the solution to meet Queensland's renewable energy requirements and achieve clean energy targets. He engaged with key stakeholders at the site and took the time to meet our team to understand the investment's scope and benefits for Queensland's renewable energy initiatives.

The ongoing investment from BlueScope Australian Steel Products to prepare Orrcon Steel for the significant demand from the renewable energy sector was acknowledged. This investment will create employment opportunities and strengthen the resilience of the domestic clean energy supply chain.

The inaugural project supplied in Queensland will be the Acciona Energia's Solar Farm near Gladstone, a monumental endeavour set to generate 480MWp of clean energy.
