Challenging times for Tickford Racing

Tickford Racing has had a string of bad luck at the Melbourne 400 and Tasmania SuperSprint, holding the team back from achieving the results they hoped for.   

A disappointing 17th for Mark Winterbottom in Race 6 of the Melbourne 400, was backed up by a 12th in Race 8 in Tasmania.

Cameron Waters finished 22nd in Melbourne’s Race 6 and slightly improved to 13th in Race 8 in the Apple Isle.

Chaz Mostert had some success with a solid 4th in Race 6 at Melbourne, but dropped back to 10th in Race 8 in Tassie.

For Frosty, the poor results seem to come down to tyre selection.

Frosty elected to use SuperSoft tyres in Melbourne to gain track position in the sprint.

In Tasmania he was unable to overcome front tyre degradation.

“We’ve been in this situation before and we’ve bounced back, so I have no doubt we can fix it, I’m just sorry to people who support us,” Mark said.

For Cameron Waters, he was hit with a five-second penalty for tapping a car in Melbourne and was affected by the lack of speed in Tasmania.

“It was a pretty difficult weekend (in Tasmania), but we’ve learned quite a bit, so we’ll pull together, work out what we did this weekend, and make sure we come out swinging at Phillip Island,” Cameron said.

Chaz Mostert has claimed top honours for the team in two races but was still disappointed in his performance in Tasmania.

“We have a lot of work to do, and it doesn’t slow down for us from here, so we’ll have a good sit down this week and try to diagnose the issues, then come out in Phillip Island and go for better results,” Chaz said.

The team travel to Phillip Island for the Phillip Island 500 on Friday April 20-22, tackling the twists and turns of the famous Back Beach Road circuit.
